Desmos is collaborating with important partners, in an effort to create an environment which instills active social contribution within everybody, especially children.

In this context, Desmos has partnered with the Lambrakis Foundation for the creation of training material introducing Volunteering as a course in school.

The program includes the creation of educational material, teachers’ educational programs and workshops, printing all the materials and manuals, by spring 2015. Hopefully, from September 2015, Desmos and the Lambrakis Foundation will begin the course’s pilot phase in 60 primary and secondary schools within 10 Greek districts. The material’s main objective is to create an interactive course encouraging student initiative and will therefore include a variety of experiential and interactive exercises. The preparation for the course will focus equally on the teachers’ education, and on the introduction of innovative practices in schools, intended to instill a conscience of social contribution in the younger generations.

We would like to kindly thank the institutions that have made this project possible:

-Creation of Training materials and pilot implementation in 10 schools in Attica:

This action is funded as part of the program “We are all citizens” which is part of the EEA Grants for Greece. Grant Administrator of the program is the Bodossakis Foundation. The goal of the program is the empowerment of Greek citizen society and the reinforcement of social justice, democracy and sustainable growth.

-Extension of the Pilot implementation of the program to an additional 50 schools in 12 regions of the country:

This was funded by the generous donation of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, contributing greatly to the expansion and effectiveness of the program!

Stay tuned on our website, Desmos.org, and our facebook page, because we will shortly have news on the implementation of the program!
