Panagis Vourloumis

Panagis Vourloumis

Mr. Vourloumis was born in 1937 in Athens and is a graduate of the London School of Economics and the Economic Development Institute of the World Bank.

His career in banking started in 1964 at ETEVA. He continued working at the IFC (International Finance Corporation) from 1966 to 1973, where he left as Division Chief for South East Asia in order to found P.T. Finconesia, a non bank financial institution in Jakarta.  From 1979 to 1981 he was head of the Commercial Bank of Greece Group and from 1988 to 2000 Chairman and CEO of Alpha Finance, ALPHA Mutual Funds and ALPHA BANK ROMANIA, while at the same time serving as Executive Director of ALPHA BANK.

From 2000 until 2004 Mr. Vourloumis was Chairman of the FRIGOGLASS Group and of the AEGEAN BALTIC BANK and from 2004 to 2010 Chairman and CEO of HELLENIC TELECOMMUNICATIONS ORGANIZATION S.A. (OTE), and Chairman of COSMOTE S.A. and ROMTELECOM S.A.

He has written articles on business, economics and management and two books on the social security problem and on management and is President of the Athens Food Bank and Treasurer of the Spastics Society.  Also a Senior Advisor to N.M. Rothschild.
