In May 2025, the Impact Assessment of the “Desmos for Youth – Northern Evia” programme was completed by Deloitte, evaluating its implementation following the devastating 2021 wildfires. The study highlighted the programme’s significant contribution to local employment and to strengthening the operational capacity of civil society organisations in the affected region, capturing both its social and economic impact.

The programme was implemented with the exclusive support of the Stavros Niarchos Foundation (SNF) and funded 12-month paid positions within local organisations, offering unemployed young people up to the age of 40 meaningful professional experience while reinforcing organisations working towards the recovery and revitalisation of Northern Evia.

The assessment also demonstrated the programme’s strong economic multiplier effect: for every €1 spent on programme operations, €8.6 was generated in the Greek economy, resulting in €239,920 in total economic output and the creation of 8 new jobs. This finding confirms that targeted employment initiatives can accelerate local recovery and create measurable value for both society and the economy.
