Maria Markoudi

PROJECT MANAGER

Maria is a graduate from the Department of Business Administration at the Eastern Macedonia & Thrace Institute of Technology. She has worked in the private sector for more than 13 years, 10 of which she was an Export Manager at a multinational company. The last 4 years she has been working for Desmos in Thessaloniki managing and utilizing surplus goods and pro bono services from companies and individuals in order to help cover documented needs of social welfare organizations in Northern Greece. Among other projects throughout the year, she is the program manager of the “Desmos Gives Warmth” program.

Fun fact: 4 years ago, Maria was trying to set up an interview with Desmos, but a number of obstacles kept getting in the way. In the end, it was meant to be and, according to Maria (!), it turned out to be the best thing about her professional life!

DESMOS aims to coordinate the donating process between donors and organizations in need. Desmos does not attest to, or provide any guarantees regarding, the quality of the offered goods or their characteristics. Desmos designs and implements programs arising from financial donations by individuals, companies and charitable financial institutions aiming to meet the needs of vulnerable groups. In order to be able to sustainably run our programs, we need to cater for implementation costs such as research and update of needs, proposal compilation, implementation follow up, payments, financial and final reports to donors etc. The set policy of Desmos is to charge a 10% administrative fee after removing the applied 0.5% donation tax. Especially where individuals’ monetary donations up to 5.000 euros for combating the COVID-19 pandemic are concerned, Desmos waives its right to the aforementioned percentage and assumes the responsibility to absorb all administrative costs.
